18th Century Staffordshire Coffee Pot reputedly originating from the Otterburn Towers Estate

A  rare 18th Century pottery Coffee Pot of sublime elegant shape and style the hand painted decoration depicting flowers and flowing ribbons with ring decoration, the front having the intials "AJW"  in black, complete with matching (original) shaped lid.

From an old, undated and yellowing newspaper cutting and notes found inside the Pot and which now  accompanies the same  it is suggested that this Pot derives from Otterburn Towers, Near Otterburn, "once occupied by the "Gallams", one who married a "Watson" of Stannington who owned this coffee pot part of a set my Mother got".

Approx Size: Ht 10 ins x9.5 ins (25.5 cms 23 cms)

Condition. Generally in good order but with some loss of painted decoration as shown, crazing under the glaze associted with its age, several old chips to the underside of the lid and  the  top knob on the lid has been off sometime in the past and reapplied.
