An original  oil on canvas by Joseph Henderson RSW (1832 - 1908) entitled "Fishing On The Rocks",  signed "J. Henderson" to lower right, framed in original ornate gilt frame as viewed and bearing original paper labels to reverse including one for James Connell & Son, Fine Art Dealers, Renfield Street, Glasgow, as pictured.

Joseph Henderson RSW (1832 -1908) was a British Artist of Scottish Nationality, born in Stanley, Perthshire on 6th October 1832. He is a listed artist and his work is today highly sought and collected. He was/is particularly well known and respected for (amongst others) his paintings of Scottish Country and Coastal Scenery - the manner in which he captured the sea and sky in various conditions and light being particularly marvalled at.

Joseph Henderson exhibited his work at the Royal Academy in London from 1871 to 1886 and in Suffolk Street Galleries from 1882 to 1884 and was the President of the Glasgow Art Club in which City he resided from 1852.

This particular painting, which is in very good order and condition, is similar to several others of a similar genre and was likely to have been painted/set on the Coast of Ayrshire.

A similar painting  entitled "Fisher Children, Ayrshire" was sold at auction through Bonhams Edinburgh in April 2013 for £7500.
